How to Add Your Blog to Google
It is important to add your blog to Google so that people can find it easily when they search on the Google search engine for information that is relevant to your blog. Following the correct procedure for Google blog submission can help market your blog by increasing your online presence and attracting more readers. Before you submit the blog, you should add at least a few posts to it so that Google utilizes it as a source of content.
Method 1 of 2: Getting Your Blog Ready for Submission
- 1Finalize your basic blog features such as the blog name and address. Once your blog has been submitted it can become difficult to change these blog attributes on Google since they will be archived (saved on the Google database).jbj
- 2Add at least 3 to 5 blog posts to the blog before you submit it to Google. If you are creating posts of short word-length then you may want to consider adding a few more posts. Basically, you don't want Google to recognize your blog as empty and reject it for submission.
Method 2 of 2: Submitting the Blog
- 1View your blog in a new tab or window of your Internet browser. Keep the blog open since you will need to copy the blog URL later on.
- 2Go to the Google homepage (in a separate browser tab or window).
- 3Select the "About Google" link underneath the search bar.
- 4Click on the "For site owners" link. It is under the heading titled "Submit your content to Google."
- 5Look under the "Web" heading to find and click on the "Add Your URL" link. This will take you to the page used for Google blog submission.
- 6Copy your blog URL from the address bar in your Internet browser. After you have highlighted the complete blog address, you can copy it using 2 methods.
- Right-click on the highlighted blog address and select "Copy" from the pop-up menu.
- Press the Control (CTRL) and "C" letter keys simultaneously on your keyboard.
- 7Paste the blog URL into the text box for the field marked "URL." Once again, there are 2 methods that can be used.
- Right-click inside the text box and select "Paste" from the menu that appears.
- Browse over and click inside the text box and then simultaneously press the Control (CTRL) and "V" keys. You will see the blog address pasted inside the text box.
- 8Add keywords related to your blog in the Comments box. This step is optional, but adding relevant keywords in the Comments box can help Google understand what your blog is about and hence help people find your blog on the Google search engine.
- 9Fill in the last text box with the letters that you see in the image above it.Typing out the letters correctly will allow Google to recognize that the blog is being submitted by a real person.
- 10Click the "Add URL" button. You will be taken to another page providing the status that your blog has been successfully submitted to Google. Tips: A good way to market your blog is to use the same keywords that you use on your blog when you are filling the Comments box on the Google blog submission page. Google should notice that the keywords that you submitted match the keywords on your blog and help display your blog more frequently when people search for those keywords on Google.
- Warnings: After you add your blog to Google it may take up to 60 days before you see the blog appear on Google's search engine. Google has the right to decline your submission if your blog does not meet its guidelines.
