Magazine style adsNEXT: RICHER TEXT ADS
Magazine style ads are text ads that we convert and render as "display-like" ads. When a text ad wins an auction for an image-only ad unit, we render the ad in the magazine style format. If you’re a publisher who prefers to serve “display ads only”, then you’ll benefit from magazine style ads as they open up additional demand for your ad inventory while also delivering the aesthetics quality of display ad creatives.
The same ads might also be eligible to show as richer text ads. Google determines whether to render an ad as richer text or magazine style based on performance and the availability of an image asset.
Note that magazine style ads are only applied to ad units that are opted in to "display ads only", and not to ad units opted in to "text and display ads".
Opt out of magazine style ads
You can use the enhanced display ads opt-out to choose whether or not you want your display-only ad inventory to serve magazine style ads. Note that opting out will also disable richer text ads.
Tracking magazine style ads
Magazine style ads are reported as text ads in the Ad types report.
